Having swollen gums can be painful especially when the condition is left untreated. Its symptoms are often unrecognizable and painless at its early stage. There are various factors that contribute to the rise swollen gums and gum disease. Bacteria together with allergic reaction to commercial oral care products are its premier cause. However, your daily lifestyle may also contribute to the swelling of your gums. Researchers have found that there is a positive relationship between stress and gum infection due to increase level of stress hormone cortisol. Individuals with increased level of stress tend to increase their bad habits which can be harmful to your periodontal health.
